Chief Inspector Lee and Detective James Carter are back! But this time they're now in Hong Kong on a vacation. However, soon after they arrive, a bomb explodes in the American Embassy. And Inspector Lee is assigned to the case, which becomes personal when it is discovered that the man behind it is Ricky Tan, Lee's father's former partner. Tan, who played an instrumental role in his father's death, who is now the leader of the Triads, the most deadly gang in all of China. The American and Hong Kong authorities soon get into a fight over the jurisdiction of the case. Lee learns that Ricky Tan will be attending a dinner party on his boat. When confronted, Tan claims that someone is trying to frame him. Tan's underling, Hu Li, appears and shoots Tan, and he falls off the boat. In the chaos, Hu Li escapes into a sewer come emerge in downtown Las Vegas, but Carter and Lee are forced to be sent back to Los Angeles. But later in Las Vegas, at the Red Dragon Casino, Lee has been framed when Ricky Tan faked his death and is now still alive but Hu Li places a small bomb in his mouth, and gags him. But will Carter save him while he's still makes a big commotion and distracts the security forces? Carter and Lee head to Hong Kong for vacation, but become embroiled in a counterfeit money scam. Rush Hour 2 is nowhere as good as Rush Hour 1 but you have to give them A for effort, as they did try to make you love it. Chan and Tucker have a way of keeping you glued as their combination is mouth watering, but after I was done watching this filmÂ… I enjoyed seeing the errors than I did seeing the film itself.<br/><br/>Is not that Rush Hour 2 didn't have it's funny parts, because it did, it is just that from the set go you will know that the makers are trying so hard to make something out of nothing. At the end they achieved it all, they got us to go see the movie, got us to remember the movie for some also near death experience that makes you wonder just like in Rush Hour 1 and they somehow manage to create a story regardless of how weak it looked or sounded. Brett Ratner was called back to direct this film that was done 3 years after the first, so the choice is yours, do you think he did a good job? The movie plot stars Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker who respectively reprise their roles as Inspector Lee and Detective Carter. Now this time our duo starts their journey in Hong Kong and then found themselves back on American soil and in Vegas where they are all rolled up together with the secret service to bring down a counterfeit scam involving the Triads.<br/><br/>The production cost for the movie is much higher than that of Rush Hour 1 mostly due to the success of the previous film Chris Tucker demanded a 20 million salary to reprise his role, at the end the movie was worth his pay at the box office. Rush Hour 1 cost $33 million and made $244 million, while this movie cost $90 million and took home $347 million from the box office and made massive cash in the home video sale.<br/><br/>After the huge success of this movie, the production studio called the duo back for another Rush Hour run, although it took them six years to get the crew back together again so the movie was released in 2007.<br/><br/>As I said this movie is nowhere as good as its predecessor, a lot of work and casting went into this one, but the final result didn't show that it cost 3 times more than the first but I will still say it is a fine movie to see.<br/><br/>www.lagsreviews.com It moves along nice and quickly. When the plot starts sagging a bit, we move seamlessly cross-genre into buddy movie, thence to martial art movie, thence to comedy…<br/><br/>All of these things work, perfectly well. Tucker and Chan obviously get along but this doesn't overstep its mark any more than the slapstick or highly (marvellously highly) choreographed action sequences.<br/><br/>Throw in a dash of Chinese A-list in Ziyi Zhang and Roselyn Sanchez's body (not meant flippantly, it's just that my TV's reception wasn't great but not hearing her didn't affect my appreciation!), Las Vegas, Versace and a Don Cheadle cameo and you have a perfectly entertaining evening in. 5/10 The co-stars genuinely like each other, and their pleasure is infectious.
